You're really good at taking care of everyone else.

This is a place to take care of you.

If you spend your days holding space for other people — teaching, counseling, caregiving, showing up — you know what it feels like when there's nothing left at the end of the day.

Art of Healing Madison creates arts-based experiences specifically for people like you. Not art classes. Not therapy. Something in between — a few hours where you get to slow down, make something, and remember that you exist outside of your role.

You don't need any art experience. You just need to show up.

Taryn Cates, MS, LPC, ATR
Founder of Art of Healing Madison

Taryn is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist who has spent her career sitting with people who are exhausted from giving everything they have to others.
She knows that the people who most need care are often the least likely to prioritize it for themselves — and she built Art of Healing Madison with exactly that in mind.

Her approach is gentle, integrative, and grounded in the belief that creativity isn't a luxury or a reward for finishing your to-do list. It's a way back to yourself. Taryn uses art therapy not to produce beautiful things, but to create space for the kind of processing, rest, and reconnection that helping professionals rarely get anywhere else.

She has worked with individuals navigating burnout, life transitions, grief, and the particular weight that comes from caring deeply about other people's wellbeing. In every workshop and retreat she offers, she brings that same attentiveness — so you can finally be the one who just shows up.
I'm in.

You don't have to have it all together to walk through the door.

You belong just as you are.
